2017 Board of Governors Election
Electoral platform
For the election of three staff representatives to AFP’s Board of Governors (3 to 12 July), SUD has decided to present to personnel world wide an electoral platform: AFP should serve the public interest (and nothing else).
On the basis of this platform two lists of candidates — one in the electoral college for journalists and the other in the college for administrative and technical staff — will stand with the shared objective of making the Board of Governors hear a different voice than those of the French media bosses and politicians.
Appeal for candidates
The decision of the CEO to organize the election, based on rules set in a 2015 government decree, calls for an election based on lists, but does not specify how or by whom the lists are formed.
The electoral program proposed by SUD attempts to respond to this organizational problem:
We call on all staff and all trade unions: whatever your type of employment contract and profession, if you share the objectives of this platform you are encouraged to come forward as a possible candidate.
- In the journalists electoral college, the list needs two women and two men. Two are the primary candidates, and two are replacements.
- For the administrative and technical staff college, the list should be of two people of the same sex. One is the primary candidate and the second the replacement.
