Statement by SUD and FO trade unions at AFP on management’s COVID-19 questionnaire
Paris, April 27th 2020
The staff representatives of FO and SUD trade unions would like to draw to your attention their concerns and questions regarding the questionnaire put online by management about remote working:
- Employees are asked if they belong to health risk categories. It seems to us that this question, even if voluntary, concerns confidential medical information. (see what the data protection agency CNIL has to say on the subject: https://www.cnil.fr/fr/coronavirus-covid-19-les-rappels-de-la-cnil-sur-la-collecte-de-donnees-personnelles)
- In question 6 employees are asked if they prefer to work at home exclusively, return to the office, or a mix of the two. This question forgets that the government has stated that when it is possible to work from home that should be practiced by default. This poses a question to staff on an issue that is the responsibility of health authorities
- For employees to respond on the subject they need to know more about the availability of masks, sanitizing hand gel, the disinfection of work areas, and possible tests of work areas
- The question about caring for children is without a doubt premature as we know little at this moment about the details about the return to classes
- If this is a survey or a “temperature check” of the sentiment of staff, the question needs to be asked why this wasn’t conducted as an anonymous survey
