Joint Union Statement

The CGT, Force Ouvrière, SUD and CGC-Presse trade unions representing all HQ-status staff categories at AFP wish to inform staff worldwide of the following strike call, submitted to the joint unions by members of the Photo Service.

Our unions support this action and call on all Photo Service staff to take part in the strike to oppose a decision that concerns all of us, whatever our occupation or sector of activity.

Herewith the call issued by Photo Service Staff:

"Photo Service staff will stage a 24-hour strike on Friday September 21 from 8:00 am Paris time (0600 GMT) to denounce the appointment of a candidate from outside AFP to the post of deputy editor in chief of the Photo Service for France.

"The strike call will be renewable as long as management maintains its decision, which goes against all the rules and agreements in force at AFP.

"Staff would like to know what are the real reasons for the choice in question, and what are the underlying editorial orientations envisaged by management.

"Photo Service staff call on all AFP staff, including the more than 100 people who have so far expressed support for the previous joint union statement to support them in their action."
